Structure
As Directors of the 2008 International Congress our vision is to support the worldwide community of Alexander Teachers by creating dynamic and varied educational opportunities to bring life into the Alexander Technique and to bring the Alexander Technique into life.
Building on the experience of previous directors we wish to provide a creative congress environment in which we can all enjoy learning and exchanging our work with others. With this in mind we aim to allow as much free space as possible.
Here is a first overview of the week: CONGRESS SCHEDULE
Each morning starts with continuous learning sessions led by some of the most experienced teachers worldwide. These sessions are not scheduled, but everyone has the option to work twice with 3 different teachers during the course of the week.
After that we all meet in the main auditorium for general announcements followed by Plenary Presentations on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These Plenary Presentations will be led by established experts from different fields of work and will introduce topics complementing our knowledge, opening up new perspectives and manners of thought. On Wednesday and Saturday we hope to be joined by special guests during this time.
After lunch you can either start with a Workshop, Lecture or Presentation followed by Work Exchange or the other way around.
These Workshops, Lectures and Presentations will be offered by our Alexander Colleagues who wish to share their knowledge, understanding and approaches to the Technique. Please note that some of them may have limited participation. If your first choice activity is full, just keep in mind the Alexander Principles of stopping and thinking while keeping your options open. Our Congress helpers will assist you in finding an alternative.
Work Exchange is a forum to share work, to discuss themes or just be together with new people and old friends. We would like to encourage you to find some time each day to exchange work and ideas with at least one person you have never met before to help our community’s wealth of knowledge travel from generation to generation.
Alternatively you can join the Dance Tea - with or without a partner just come along and enjoy a dance! You will also have the opportunity here to join in movement classes or a contact jam.
In the late afternoon we meet again in the main auditorium for Structured Dialogue. This is a time to ask questions, think out loud and discuss relevant themes and issues that concern our community. There will be a skilled moderating team to facilitate these dialogues. This is a new addition to the Congress and we believe it will offer new possibilities for growth and change.
After dinner and to round off the day there will be concerts, performance events or lectures.
Please note that this schedule is in development. All rights and alterations reserved.
