Irmel Weber
Leading and Following - Allowing and Doing
To lead and/or to follow are quiet important aspects for dancers.
Coming from a background as a Tango dancer I knew this skill quiet
well when I discovered the Alexander Technique.
But by using the means of the Alexander Technique I was able to
increase the experience and the quality of being the leader or the
follower. Leading and following, or allowing and doing, are not only
important for dancers. Both qualities are with us during our whole
life, whether teaching Alexander students, having conversations,
shopping , etc. We are always dealing with action and reaction.
I would like to invite you to experience the qualities of leading and
following, allowing and doing, listening and answering, acting and
reacting. I will share with you many directed activities/games that
are useful for teaching in individual or group lessons, as well as for
when we work on ourselves. Let's experiment and have fun.
Irmel Weber trained with Danny McGowan, runs a training course for Alexander teachers in Berlin, likes to organise the yearly get-together of members of the Affiliated Societies and is a passionate Tango Argentino dancer.
