Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler
– Improving the Art of explaining the technique to new people -

In these immortal words of Albert Einstein, he gives excellent advice to those giving introductory lessons, talks or workshops…. Keep the explanations simple!

In a recent STAT survey it was found that "only a handful of Alexander Technique teachers actually make a comfortable living from teaching the technique". To me this is sad state of affairs. My aim for those attending this workshop is to help you to have as many pupils as you want!
This workshop will deal with how to give an excellent introductory workshop and what to cover on a first lesson so that the pupil cannot wait for their second! This workshop is designed to help you put across the principles of the Alexander Technique so that people are left with a fundamental understanding and a desire to know more. We will look at the basic principles such as Inhibition, Direction and Primary Control and find a way of explaining them so that people learning the technique can understand and apply them in their lives. We will also look at what to do and say (or perhaps what not to do or say) to ensure your pupils do follow up on the technique in their own lives. Please bring your questions, concerns and an open mind.
