Maike Lenz
Filmproject "Alexander-Technique for dancers"
January – July 2006 in Frankfurt, Germany
The idea for this project came after 2 presentation of the Alexander-Technique at a conference by TaMeD (Dance Medicine Germany). This kind of presentations ask to convey a huge amount of information in a very limited time. This is a contrast to our process oriented work. The ability to show an individual process over a longer period of time, in a compressed way, was the reason to choose film as a medium.
The result is a 23 minutes documentary film, where we used practicle work, dance and teaching sequences, discussions and interviews to transfer the meaning of the project.
Another Outcome is a fotobook with quotations of the participants.
The students also wrote there experiences at three different times (beginning, middle and end of project) on forms.
Invisible results are countless individual learning Processes of the 13 members and 9 teachers from the project.
The film is now just in German and hopefully it will be in August 2008 with english subtitles or synchronisation.
