Nelly Ben-Or

The Alexander Principle in Music making

This workshop is about working on the application of the Technique to various aspects of studying music, solving instrumental challenges and dealing with preparation for performing.

In the 45 years of my work with the AT as a concert pianist the above subject is what I have been teaching since 1975 in one of London's major Music Conservatoires.

Nelly Ben-Or was born in Poland. She gave her first piano recital aged 13 and received a piano and Chopin Scholarship from the government. Completed music studies in Israel where she won first prize in a national Mozart competition. She continued to perform in concerts and broadcasts.

In 1960 she came to London to train with Patrick Macdonald. Performed in concerts throughout Britain, in various European countries, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Mexico. In all these countries she gave many masterclasses and introductions to the application of the AT to musicians' work. She continued to teach at London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Privately she works with Alexander teachers of a wide range of experience and with young pianists.
As well as giving piano recitals and broadcasts, she has recorded CDs of music by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy and others. Twice yearly she gives international piano & AT courses in London.
