Pianists at any level will be taught benefits of lengthening and widening while playing the piano. Improved tone and balance of sound will emerge indirectly. Pianists will be given tools to avoid the risk of RSI, especially for keyboard players.


 

Robert Bedford holds an Education Artist Diploma, B.Mus., M.S., The Juilliard School; D.M.A., Catholic University of America. Critically acclaimed pianist, Robert Bedford presents recitals and master classes in major American and European cities.
Dr. Bedford was the gold medalist in the International Recording Competition for Pianists. Upon winning third prize in the Louis Gottschalk International Competition for Pianists and Composers held in New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert Bedford was appointed to the roster of New World Festival Concerts. Subsequently, Professor Bedford created America's Musical Heritage, a lecture recital featuring the piano music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk, George Gershwin and Salvatore Martirano. Robert Bedford is one of very few pianists worldwide to become a Certified Teacher of the F.M. Alexander Technique.
Dr. Bedford conducts Alexander Technique workshops for musicians and non musicians throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain to enhance their performance through an improved practice routine, also teaching musicians how to relieve pain and stress caused by everyday misuse of the body. Dr. Bedford holds three degrees from the Juilliard School. Many of Robert Bedford’s former students have won prizes and competitions and are members of university faculties throughout the country.
