Pure Inhibition - Structure, function and use of supporting reflexes
- About the work of Chris Stevens -

What happens in the body when we use AT? What is the physiological
background for human uprightness? How can we incorporate this knowledge
into our work? How can we become independent form a teacher and easily
work on ourselves without one? How do Primary Control and Directions
connect with the work of the support reflexes?
This introduction aims to familiarize participants with the findings and
developments of Dr. Chris Stevens (1943-2003). In his over 30 years of
AT-work he developed a "discipline", which makes it possible to very
effectively work on ourselves - independent from a teacher or lessons.

Besides information about anatomy, physiology and their relation to
AT principles the workshop will be very practical. I.e. we will extensively
explore our use of support reflexes, learn the procedure Chris developed
and then put it into practice with activities chosen by participants.
After that we will discuss our experiences in regard to personal use as well as
for teaching. Participants will be provided with written material about
the contents of the workshop.

Gabriele Breuninger is active in the AT context since 18 years. She started lessons in 1990, completed her training with Chris Stevens from 1994 to 1997 and has since been teaching in private practice in Frankfurt as well as for companies, music institutes and several workshops in Germany and worldwide.

In 2006 she successfully began to offer teacher workshops about the work of Chris Stevens, with whom she shared 7 years of AT work. She is member of G.L.A.T. and ATI.

Besides AT she studied recorder and piano. She has been teaching solely in this field for 8 years before engaging in AT. Her main interest in teaching is to provide the pupils with a profound knowledge about the underlying physiological principles of AT, how they relate to inhibition and directions and, most important: how pupils can easily work on themselves without a teacher.
Her motto is: I am here to make myself dispensable (for the pupil).
